Meet Steve Sorrell...
I am a UK-qualified Primary Teacher (PGCE, QTS) with over 15 years of experience in diverse international settings. My journey in education began in South Korea and Thailand, where I developed a deep appreciation for cross-cultural communication and the nuances of EAL (English as an Additional Language) instruction. These early years taught me the importance of clarity, patience, and the power of building strong relationships with students from all backgrounds.
Returning to the UK to complete my PGCE at Edge Hill University, I discovered my passion for Special Educational Needs. My time at Chaffinch Brook School (The Beckmead Trust) in London was transformative. Working in a specialist SEN environment, I became a practitioner focused on neurodiversity, specifically supporting students with Autism (ASC) and complex social communication needs. This period solidified my belief that with the right structure—TEACCH principles and robust emotional regulation tools—every child can experience academic and social success.
Today, I am proud to call Ho Chi Minh City my home. Residing in District 1, I have been leveraging my UK expertise within the bilingual framework here in Vietnam. I am seeking a long-term home in a forward-thinking international school where I can contribute my unique blend of mainstream classroom teaching and specialist inclusion skills. Outside of the classroom, I am an advocate for lifelong learning and am constantly refining my practice to meet the evolving needs of 21st-century learners.
